Meet the Team

Dr. Dan grew up in Toronto, Ontario, where he attended the University of Toronto, graduating in 2007. He moved to Edmonton to further his training at the University of Alberta and has been here ever since. He and his wife opened SmileSense in May of 2009, and Dan split his time between Sherwood Park and Fort McMurray for 5 years. He now works at his practices in Sherwood Park and Beaumont. In his spare time, Dan enjoys spending time with his two kids, as well as going to the gym, boxing and reading

Shannon graduated from the University of B.C. in 1986, and after 37 years of Dental Hygiene she has recently ‘retired’ to become our full time Office Manager. She and her family moved to Sherwood Park in 2008, and she has worked with Dr. Dan for 14 years. Shannon loves cycling, yoga, dogs, and travelling to see her kids.

Deanna was born and raised in Arnold’s Cove, Newfoundland. She attended Keyin College in St. Johns and graduated from Dental Assisting in 2008. That same year she also moved to Alberta and worked elsewhere in the dental field until she joined the SmileSense team in 2012. In Deanna’s spare time, she enjoys kickboxing, walking, traveling, and spending time with her wife, family, and friends.

Sam was born in Toronto, Ontario, and was raised in Edmonton, Alberta. She graduated from the Dental Assisting program at NAIT in 2012 and has worked in the field ever since. In addition to chairside assisting, Sam runs our office Facebook page and website. When not at work, she enjoys spending time with her family and their cats, Pepper and Smoky.

Zach is one of our wonderful receptionists and one of the first voices you hear at our office. When he is not greeting you, at your appointment, you will find him with his two kids, wife, and dog Bowser. In his free time, he enjoys his motorcycle, camping, and photography.

Krista graduated from the University of Alberta with her BSc in Dental Hygiene. She was born and raised in Edmonton AB. Her favourite part of being a dental hygienist is helping to improve client’s oral health and helping them overcome their dental anxiety. When she’s not working, she is spending time with her husband, family, friends and her two dogs, Dodger and Ember.

Katelyn was born in Edmonton, and graduated from the University of Alberta in 2021 with her BSc in Dental Hygiene. In her spare time she enjoys crocheting, reading, going on walks, and spending time with her family and her cats.

Chelly attended KDM Dental College and graduated from Dental Assisting in June 2022. She loves to spend time outdoors with her family and her two dogs; Penelope and Trigger. Camping and quading are her favourite activities. Chelly is currently on maternity leave!
